I knew from attending "Home Shows" and in perusing kitchen and home magazines, that custom distressed kitchen cabinets with subtle, but beautiful details were what I wanted and would help achieve the kitchen that would reflect my personal style and taste. I also recognized that to reach the look that I wanted, this new kitchen also needed to be well balanced by including a number of different design ideas.

Fortunately, I learned of Custom-Cabinetry-Design.com, and chose them to work with me to design the most charming as well as practical distressed kitchen cabinets. And, I would characterize these lovely cabinets as much more than just cabinets.....they are truly furniture!

Because my kitchen cabinets are designed to be a lifetime investment, I was delighted to be personally involved in all of the custom design details. This distressed kitchen "furniture" is classic in design as it reminds us of the "good old days" and the timeless quality and the appreciation of the tradition of fine woodworking.

Among just some of the design ideas that we discussed, and I incorporated into this custom plan were:

• A special spot such as lighted glass shelves with wooden edging to display favorite or seasonal collectibles

I feel very fortunate to have discovered a team who was there to help me at each step of the process. The Custom Cabinetry Design professionals were forthright, timely and responsive to my requests. For example, they provided numerous pictures of door samples, along with possible stain colors, glazes and even levels of "distressing." They introduced me to possible design ideas, some of which I outline above. They laid out the new space in a computer model fashion, and also in a hand sketch which was immensely helpful in seeing a "finished look".

I spent nearly a month in examining possibilities and making initial decisions. Never did I feel pushed or rushed, but rather these professionals worked with me and supported my choices, and where appropriate offered alternatives.
